Siege Saurian
Siege Saurian
CR 6 N Outsider (elemental)
This creature resembles a quadrupedal dinosaur made of earth and stone. Its head bears a jaw filled with jagged stony teeth, and its tail is long and forked.
Siege saurians are creatures of elemental earth. Despite their low intelligence and bestial appearance, they have a seemingly instinctual understanding of masonry, and how to break it. Although they do not require food, they love the taste of gems and precious metals, and can be convinced to perform tasks in exchange for these tasty treats. They are often summoned to the Material Plane by spellcasters in need of cracking open a fortress or to provide ranged support to an army.
A siege saurian’s natural weapons are very dense, and it can put out a great deal of damage in a short time. If attacked in melee, they fight with bite and tail, knocking opponents down and tearing at them until they stop moving. If attacked at range, they use their tails as scoops to create boulders that strike with the force of catapult stones. They are somewhat cowardly by nature, and if reduced to around half their hit points merge with a stony surface and flee.

Special Abilities
Burrower (Ex) Although a siege saurian normally passes through earth and stone effortlessly, it can dig a tunnel with concentration. When using this ability, it can move at ¼ speed and leave a tunnel equal in diameter to its space (a 10 by 10 by 10 ft. tunnel with a move action, or 10 by 10 by 20 ft. tunnel as a full round action. It can move through earth and stone with this ability, but not metal.
Earth Mastery (Ex) A siege saurian gains a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls if both it and its foe are touching the ground. If an opponent is airborne or waterborne, the creature takes a –4 penalty on attack and damage rolls. These modifiers apply to bull rush and overrun maneuvers, whether the siege saurian is initiating or resisting these kinds of attacks. (These modifiers are not included in the statistics block.)
Gem Scent (Ex) This functions as the scent ability, but can only be used to detect semiprecious or precious stones, or creatures carrying them.
Siege Shot (Ex) As a full round action, a siege saurian can scoop up earth and stone, compact it into a ball, and fling it with its tail. When it does so, it makes a thrown ranged attack with a range increment of 150 feet. A creature or object struck by this shot takes 4d6 points of damage plus 1.5 times the siege saurian’s Strength modifier.
