Dinosaur, Protoceratops

Dinosaur, Protoceratops
CR 3 N Medium Animal
This reptilian quadruped has an oversized head with a massive beak and a wide frill. Its tail is deep and powerful.
A protoceratops is a sheep-sized relative of the larger, more famous ceratopsians like triceratops and styracosaurus. Their skulls are massive with respect to their body size and heavily muscled, allowing them to chop through thick desert vegetation in search of food. Protoceratops are belligerent creatures that protect themselves with gusto. Even large predators think twice about attacking a protoceratops herd.
Protoceratops are gregarious, living in mixed-sex herds of up to several dozen. Males are larger and more heavily ornamented than females. Both parents help in the raising of young, which are born in nests of up to a dozen. Protoceratops are most active around dawn and dusk, avoiding both the heat of the day and the darkest of the night. They are decent diggers, and may excavate scratch-burrows for water or roots.
A protoceratops grows to a maximum of six feet long and weighs around 200 pounds.
